THE DEFINING MOMENT:
192nd Street Campus Plans – Methodist Women's Hospital

As the city of Omaha continues to grow westward, so does the need for health care – especially women’s health care. At Methodist Hospital in 2006, 1,456 babies were born and 70 percent were from households west of I-680. Currently there is only one full-service hospital and only four neo-natal intensive care (NICU) beds in this area.

Methodist Health System is responding by expanding their best care to west Omaha and surrounding communities. The Methodist Women’s Hospital will cost $120 million to construct and equip, utilizing the most technologically advanced information and communications systems available. As a destination hospital, women from across the region, of all generations and socioeconomic backgrounds, will experience health care in a safe, family friendly, healing environment. An additional 28 NICU beds will help alleviate the shortage of intensive health care for infants in west Omaha.

This new hospital is part of a greater vision for 192nd and Dodge streets. The 38-acre campus will eventually include the Methodist Women’s Hospital, a full-service general hospital and two medical office buildings.
