THE DEFINING MOMENT:84th Street Campus Plans – Methodist HospitalWhen Methodist Hospital moved to its current location in 1968, it was state-of-the-art and provided the necessary space capacity for growth. For many years, the 84th Street facilities adequately met the needs of patients, physicians and staff.
During the last decade, Methodist has experienced phenomenal growth and demand for patient care, especially in the areas of surgery, pathology and women’s health services. Patients are our priority, and bold steps must be taken to upgrade facilities, technology and services for the future.
Relocating the obstetrical and gynecological services to the new 192nd Street Campus will allow us to expand existing services at the 84th Street Campus. Methodist Hospital will invest $100 million to take the 84th Street Campus to the next level of care, satisfaction and efficiency for patients, physicians and our community.

Surgery Department Expansion Our plans include combining outpatient and inpatient surgery services while implementing new technologies and amenities that will increase both patient and physician satisfaction. |

Additional Private Rooms Private rooms allow for greater patient comfort as well as privacy. These additional rooms will also help accommodate emergency department demands and avoid diversion to other hospitals due to lack of beds. |

The Pathology Center A new Pathology Center will be added with a state-of-the-art molecular (DNA) lab. The additional space will better accommodate a robotic diagnostics system to automate laboratory testing procedures. Robotics save time and improve accuracy. Our Pathology Center serves both hospital patients as well as community clients such as physicians, health organizations and community service agencies. |

Parking Structure The new five-story parking structure will have safety features, more parking spaces and wider parking stalls. Connecting walkways will lead visitors to the main entrances of both the north and south towers. |

Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center The changes planned for the Outpatient Surgery Department will create expansion possibilities for growing cancer care programs and services. In addition, the Cancer Center would like to have a multi-purpose room for community education classes as well as a technologically advanced conference room for treatment planning meetings. |
